This policy paper sets out how Germany can leverage the Just Transition Mechanism (JTM) agreed at UNFCCC COP 30 to advance cooperation in the field of international climate policy and beyond.

The paper analyses the current status of negotiations on the mechanism as well as the outcomes of COP 30 with regard to its development. It outlines the key elements for such a mechanism, highlights the importance of the JTM in the context of the German government’s international cooperation, and presents a number of policy recommendations.
