Shared Prosperity: How Financial Institutions can Partner with Indigenous Peoples for a Just Transition

To combat climate change, renewable energy capacity must triple in the next six years. Financial institutions and Indigenous peoples play a critical role in this transition. As the ancestral owners of a large portion of the world’s land, Indigenous communities are crucial in ensuring renewable projects are implemented fairly and equitably. Financial institutions play a key role in financing and insuring these projects.

In this webinar, Indigenous peoples will share their practical experience in creating business models and discuss benefit-sharing and co-ownership. Financial institutions involved in energy projects led by Indigenous communities will also be featured.

The webinar will mark the launch of the joint report “Exploring Shared Prosperity: Indigenous Leadership and Partnerships for a Just Transition” by the Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) and the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre.
