Responsible Exits and Closures: Global lessons for local action

As the energy transition accelerates, responsible exits from extractive activities have become a pressing priority. The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and the Center for Responsible Mining and Energy Transitions (CREER) have organised a dialogue that brings together Colombian and international experts to share lessons and experiences from fossil fuel closure and transition processes around the world. This event will explore what makes mine closures responsible, focusing on governance, territorial planning, legal frameworks, alternative livelihoods, and the social and human rights dimensions. The goal of this event is to connect global lessons with local action, shaping just transitions in Colombia and across Latin America.
