Regional Green Development in East Kalimantan: Towards an inclusive energy transition

The Global Networking Activity within the gender component of the Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI JET) project will hold its final session on April 15, 2026. This session, prepared by the SMERU Research Institute, will explore how energy transition processes can be advanced in coal-dependent regions without reinforcing existing inequalities, focusing on institutional approaches, key actors, and inclusive policy frameworks.

The session will feature breakout discussions on the following key topics:

• Preventing inequalities in transition policies: How can policy design and implementation avoid reproducing existing inequalities?
• Strategic actors and alliances: Which actors and partnerships can help advance gender and intersectional approaches in transition processes?
• From principles to practice: How can recognition, representation, redistribution, and reparation be effectively integrated into transition policies?
