Public Perception of the Early Retirement Policy for Coal Power Plants in the Energy Transition

Indonesia’s Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP), launched in November 2023 as part of the country’s Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) roadmap, contains plans for the early retirement of two coal-fired power plants: the Cirebon-1 and Pelabuhan Ratu power plants.

To gauge community perceptions in the region around the two power plants, as well as in the region of the Pacitan power plant that might also be retired, Yayasan Indonesia Cerah (CERAH) and UniTrend from the Institute for Policy Development at Gadjah Mada University will launch a new study entitled “Community Perceptions of the Early Retirement Policy of Coal Fired Power Plant in Energy Transition”.
