Launch of the JTFL/CAN Joint Discussion Paper on Just Transition Finance

At the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 30), Parties agreed to establish a dedicated Just Transition Mechanism. Yet a viable Mechanism depends on adequate financial support, not only in sufficient quantity, but also in terms of quality and governance.

On 6 October 2026, the Just Transition Finance Lab at the Global School of Sustainability at LSE Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment and Climate Action Network International will launch their joint discussion paper on a blueprint for finance under the Just Transition Mechanism.

Participants will discuss:

(1) What just transition finance looks like in practice, including the gaps and challenges;

(2) Why just transitions cannot be walled off from wider climate finance deliberations; and

(3) How support for just transition can be accelerated at the global level ahead of COP 31.
