Just Transition Documentary Screening and Educational Comic Launch

As part of the Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI JET) project, Indonesian non-governmental organisation Yayasan Mitra Hijau will host a special screening of its new documentary “The Last Coal” and launch the educational comic book “Our Energy Story: Green Seeds Under a Grey Sky”. The event aims to help young people learn about the realities and possibilities in coal communities across East Kalimantan, emphasising the role of youth in contributing to a green future.

“The Last Coal” is a documentary capturing the lived experiences of communities in coal regions and the work being done by local initiatives towards a sustainable future. “Our Energy Story: Green Seeds Under a Grey Sky” is an educational comic addressing energy transition, climate change, and economic transformation, designed to reach young audiences.

The event is open to representatives from local government, academia, business, civil society, media, and communities. Participants will have the chance to respond to the film and the comic, and discuss the realities they face in East Kalimantan.
