Just Transition at the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held from May 27 to May 30, 2024, at the American University of Antigua in Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. Under the theme of “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity,” the conference seeks to evaluate the ability of SIDS to achieve sustainable development, which will result in an intergovernmental outcome document.

SIDS comprises 37 UN member nations and 20 associate members of regional commissions, spanning three key regions: the Caribbean; the Pacific; and the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and South China Sea (AIS). They are uniquely and unfortunately positioned at the forefront of multiple global crises, notably that of climate change.

A series of side events held in the conference venue will promote solutions to today’s most pressing issues, including just transition and inclusive leadership in energy transition.
