Second Parliamentary Summit on Climate Change and Just Transition of Latin America and the Caribbean

The Second Parliamentary Summit on Climate Change and Just Transition of Latin America and the Caribbean will gather legislators from across the region to align strategies in preparation for the 30th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP 30). This event provides a strategic opportunity to strengthen the role of legislators in the climate agenda, advancing the priorities of the Brazilian COP 30 Presidency and building a common regional voice from Latin America and the Caribbean.

The summit has been organised by the Parliamentary Observatory on Climate Change and Just Transition of Latin America and the Caribbean (OPCC), an initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, supported by Open Society Foundations and co-hosted by the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate of Brazil, with the support from the CIPÓ Platform.

During the event, a Letter of Support for the Brazilian COP 30 Presidency will be presented, signed by global parliamentarians to reaffirm their climate commitment. The discussions will also contribute to the OPCC Joint Declaration, which will be formally presented at COP 30 in November 2025.

The event will take place in person at Brazil’s National Congress with simultaneous interpretation in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Open sessions will be livestreamed on YouTube here.
