Forum: Central Asia’s SDGs in a Changing Global Order

This forum focuses on the political, economic, and scientific aspects of Sustainable Development Goals and the challenges posed by climate change in Central Asia, viewed from global and regional perspectives. Sustainable development involves understanding the context and impact of climate change, as well as identifying effective measures, scientific solutions in particular, to meet decarbonisation targets.

The event will facilitate a dialogue between researchers and decision-makers from business and politics. Through a global comparison, it will examine the various regional paths to decarbonisaion. The goal is to inspire discussion and provide insights into potential solutions for Central Asia, while exploring how geopolitical shifts impact local sustainability strategies.

The forum is part of a series of events dedicated to implementing sustainability goals in Central Asia. These events are organised by the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the German-Kazakh University (DKU), and will be held in Almaty from 15 to 26 September.
