Towards a Citizen-Centric Energy Transition: Building skills for workers and communities

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) is hosting the dialogue “Towards a Citizen-centric Energy Transition: Building Skills for Workers and Communities” on July 4, 2024.

The session will focus on clean and green innovations currently being used in India to repurpose outmoded thermal power plants. These include bioenergy production, solar power installations, and battery-energy storage devices. While technical and financial support are crucial towards this transition, the session will also highlight citizen-centric approaches.

At the same time the session will feature the launch of the study “Assessing Thermal Power Plant Transitions: A Case Study of Worker and Community Dependence”, discussing experiences of citizen-centric transitions from other countries and approaches to upskilling and reskilling workers and communities to ensure a just energy transition in India.
