Expert Exchange: Launch of the Handbook on Economic Diversification in Coal Regions

As coal-producing regions prepare for the phase-out of fossil fuels, this Expert Exchange on economic diversification in coal regions will explore practical strategies to reduce dependence on coal and create resilient economic futures. 

The session will launch the new Handbook on Economic Diversification in Coal Regions, developed by the Global Policy Incubator under the Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI JET) project, and share lessons from its application in Chile. In addition, the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy will present its initiative on Special Mining Districts for Productive Diversification, a flagship effort to promote sustainable alternatives and support just transition.
