As part of the series “Money for the Many—Reclaiming Public Finance”, this session will explore how public money can be redirected and reimagined to drive a just and equitable transition.

A truly global just transition cannot happen without confronting the fundamental injustice at the heart of today’s global economy: that most countries lack the public resources and the policy autonomy to protect their people or reimagine their economies in the face of climate disaster. Countries in the Global South—already facing climate impacts they did not cause—are forced to choose between protecting their people or servicing debt.
