From Community Priorities to Sustainable Livelihoods: Transformational measures in Indonesia, Chile and Colombia

A just energy transition requires measures that can create alternatives for communities whose jobs, economies and territories are affected by the shift. Locally driven actions can help pursue community priorities and chart pathways towards more sustainable and resilient livelihoods.

This webinar will explore experiences of the Climate Action Network (CAN) under the IKI JET (Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition) project in Indonesia, Chile and Colombia. The discussion will highlight community-based initiatives developed in different contexts. It will look at how these approaches — from alternative livelihoods to circular economy to ecosystem restoration — can respond to immediate local needs while contributing to longer-term social, economic and environmental transformation. Through concrete experiences from communities in East Kalimantan and South Sumatra in Indonesia, Mejillones in Chile, and La Guajira in Colombia, speakers will share lessons from implementation, discuss what makes these measures potentially transformative, and reflect on the conditions needed to sustain, replicate or scale up these solutions.

The webinar will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, English, and Indonesian.
